She released her debut single Here in 2015, when she was just 19. It received lots of praise and was well-received from critics as well as listeners. It reached the top spot at 19th on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of 2015. That same year, she released her debut album Know It All with the third track Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which reached the top of Billboard charts including the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. It was different since a lot of people reacted to her interview with Rap-Up about her struggle in learning to love and embrace her. Cara's music is known to contain messages of love, self-love and mental health. The inspiration for her music stems from her personal struggles to overcome mental health problems and insomnia. Reuters said that she described the album "half chaotic, but half done". She found growth through therapy and encourages other people to seek help if necessary. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since the year 1996. Her parents come from Italian descent. Her parents gifted her with their first guitar when she was 10. That was her first step with music. When she was 13she began covering songs she loved on YouTube to demonstrate to the public that she was talented and had the courage to pursue a career as an artist. In fact she covered one of her song Sweater Weather became the one that made her the focus of EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose as well as record herself music.
